Way to much to say in way to little time

The internet situation here is horendous. I thought Id have some time but turns out there is one computer in the whole town for 18 girls and 5 teachers ugggh. This will be quick

So the place I left off was a beautiful campspot which was basically a mini zoo with tons of animals where we caught up on classes and everything before hitting the road in our big blue truck. From there we went to a museum where it happened to be a cultural Zulu holiday which was incredible because we got to see some awesome traditional dances! I spent some time getting over a chest infection that has luckily gone away with antibiotics. Next was a serious of breathtaking day hikes in the draakensburg mountains (the highest mountains in Southern Africa) where we got to sit under a waterfall, almost got knocked off a mountain peek because of the wind and the best of which brought us to a cave. We slept for 2 nights in this cave enjoying the beauty around us, doing some classes, and really getting to know eachother more deeply. The only flaw of the trip was the DIRT, it was everywhere, in our sleeping bags, out clothes, our food our hair our faces! I couldnt even look at the other girls without cracking up at their streaked faces. Needless to say we were extatic to shower and sleep in a (drumroll please) BED! the first beds since orientation. From here we are enjoying staying inside for a bit and yesterday we went to a zulu coming of age ceremony. That was breathtaking, it was a girl raising money for her marriage where there is dancing and traditional dress and special rituals. It was really amazing to be there and experience the culture, we even got to learn some traditional dance moves.

Ill try to blog again but the like I said there is a really scetchy internet situation. I miss everybody and I hope it hasn't gotten to cold yet.

Love Melissa

Hi! I'm so glad you got a few minutes to write-- I'm like a little kid all excited when I see that you updated the blog. And I'm SO glad to hear that you're over the chest thing. I knew you were in good hands but still... I am your mom and you are on the other side of the world.

Hey, guess what? Dad turned in all of the bottles that Kim and the others donated towards your efforts and raised $80 more! All from bottles and cans that half the people throw out and fill up the landfills with.

Kerry's wedding was Friday. It was a lot of fun. We all-- Geoff, Kiley, Grandma, Grandpa stayed in the little motel right next to where the wedding was and came home Saturday. I'll try to get pictures to show from someone who had a camera since I didn't bring mine. I was so proud of my $12 little black dress. And I heard of another place for "new and slightly used" clothes near Burlington that we have to check out.

Now Kerry and Chris are here for a few days because they didn't want to go on a honeymoon yet but they wanted to get away. I am going to take them over to Mr. Stiles house to look at a litter of lab puppies-- they're looking for a black female. Speaking of Labs, Maya is in heat again and so we're hoping we'll have puppies when you come home but unfortunately Dell seems to be living up to his reputation. Again. I'll keep you posted but I wouldn't put any money on his performance if you know what I mean ;-)

Hey, I just saw Mrs. Benway and she said you called Annie for her birthday today. Annie's phone went off in class--oops-- and when she realized it was you Mrs Benway got all excited and looked at Annie and said Go Ahead, Talk!

I've gotta go now. Stay healthy. Take it all in. Learn lots. Make a million memories. You know the drill.

I love and miss you a ton!
Always, Mom
