Galapagos and Moncora

So I spent this week in the Galapagos.

We lived on a boat with a fabulous crew and amazing food for once, it was like luxury.

Everyday we went snorkeling and landed on a new island, we climed all around volcanoes and explored calderas full of flamingos. We saw boobies and almost got attacked by about a million sea lions. They were EVERYWHERE. We got to snorkel with sea lions.

We swam with hammerhead sharks and went on a mad dolphin chase in one of the little motor boats where we ended up diving off while it was still moving to swim with dolphins. We swam with turtles and rays too but the skarks and dolphins are cooooler.

The boat we were on had a roof about 20 feet up that we could jump off of to go swimming and it was so much fun. We sunbathed up there and a bunch of us fried ourselves through the 45 spf sunscreen. One night We were jumping and a huge fish swam underneath, it was dark so i thought it was a trick but 5 minutes later a huge shark went by, that was our brush with death.

We also saw about a trillion giant tortoises.

Now we are in a surf town called Moncora right on the ocean and it is heaven. We are also finally in peru and communication prices skyrocketed so basically i cant call anyone and that stinks a little but hey im at the ocean.

Also sadly i broke my camera so Im hoping mom will set up a photo bucket for the traveling school so that anyone can put their pictures there for me to have.

Have fun in the northeast,

Melissa

Wow. I am sooooo going to the Galapagos someday! I'm glad you posted, I was wondering and wondering and your description is beyond my dreams. I'm so sorry about your camera-- that stinks! Make sure you keep the media cards in case we can rescue any of your pictures-- I have had good luck with that kind of stuff. And I can definitely set up a photo bucket!
You just called while I was writing this and it was GREAT to hear your voice and then we got cut off. So don't worry about not being able to call-- I understand. I love and miss you and I am so happy the trip is going so good.
Love, Mom
